hello, I'm Kaisa.
I teach people to eat.
without stigma.
without dogma.
without diet culture.
My varied educational and experiential background, along with a wide range of interests, lets me approach eating from unique individual, environmental and cultural angles. I steer clear of dogmatic beliefs; I have no universal recommendations or programmes to offer. I approach situations and people with curiosity and a clean slate.
As a millennial, I am strongly shaped by diet culture and, without realising it, spent much of my life at odds with disordered eating that was then – and to some extent still is – simply a cultural norm. Now my heartfelt mission is to critically point out the manifestations and harms of diet culture and to counsel people of all ages who have concerns with their eating behaviour and body image.
My second mission is to fight the spread of health misinformation by offering evidence-based information alongside it – on social media, in trainings, in media and in individual counselling. As a mom, I am familiar with the particularities of feeding young children; I counsel parents and families.
I work with the nutrition of neurodivergent people: ADHD and meal planning, eating with stimulant medication, autism and sensory sensitivities.
I am a FODMAP diet specialist certified by Monash University. A therapeutic diet is prescribed by a doctor — i.e. a diagnosis is required before turning to a counsellor to begin the diet. Disease-specific counselling is generally outside a nutrition counsellor's scope.
